Story

SPAGHETTIRAIN is the latest brainchild of artist Lia Anna Hennig.

Influenced by her Italian upbringing she has always been inspired by food and since living in London she has developed a passion for the weather as well.

Spaghettirain is the title of one of Lia’s ink drawings, which in a nutshell depicts the modern-day-surrealist Lia is.

Each creation tells its own - sometimes absurd - story with food stuff, creatures, characters, plants, and other curiosities springing to life and setting free the imagination of the viewer.

Inspired by nature and folkloristic elements Lia has expanded her obsession for patterns and abstract shapes, which she playfully mixes with humor and at times, the grotesque – often only to be discovered when re-engaging with the work as the “devil is in the detail” so to speak…

The ART THINGS created for Spaghettirain are a way of opening up her Art practice to a wider audience, shifting the context of the work by literally putting it where her ideas often spark from: from EVERY DAY LIFE – so the HOME – and more precisely – the KITCHEN.

She has been showing her work in commercial galleries, public institutions and artist run spaces internationally.

Lia also works on commissions and has contributed her illustrations to books and magazines.

Lia grew up in North Italy to a German/Austrian mother and a German father. Both parents work in theatre all over the place, so Lia had an unconventional upbringing amongst creative people in various countries.
